2022 Hyundai Elantra N debuts for the USA

The Elantra N has made its US debut at Hyundai Motor Company for the first time ever. The price is unknown for now, but we can expect the official launch to take place in a few months. This performance-oriented sedan comes with a number of exterior and interior styling changes, as well as a number of mechanical upgrades.

Compared to the regular Elantra, the new model’s exterior design is much more aggressive and angular. An all-new blacked-out fascia greets you at the front of the car. The front lip spoiler, side skirts, and rear bumper all have red highlights. In addition to the N badges on the face and tail, there is a sporty-looking spoiler on the tailgate.

Sport seats that are lower and more supportive come standard in the Elantra N’s cabin. Added to the performance sedan is a N Sound Equalizer, which creates artificial engine sounds, according to the manufacturer. Whine, throat, and bass sound profiles can all be turned off. A variety of driving modes is also likely to be available.

Inline-4 turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine powers the Hyundai Elantra N. There is 280 PS (from 5,500 rpm to 6,500) and 392 Nm in this motor (from 2,100 rpm to 4,700 rpm). An 8-speed dual clutch automatic transmission is available, as well as a 6-speed manual transmission with automatic rev matching.

On the DCT variant, there’s a ‘N Grin Shift’ overboost function that temporarily boosts the maximum power output to 290 PS. As with other Hyundai N models, the throttle response is sharp, and a launch control system is available. There’s also a driver-sensing DCT, which can detect driving patterns and prevent odd gearshift timing.

In addition, Hyundai has added a lot of performance-oriented technology to the Elantra N in the United States. Similar to World Rally Championship race cars, it has an integrated drive axle, which ensures that the driveline is strong yet light. Larger brakes and an upgraded suspension system are also included.
