BMW Metaphora : Anna Nemirova
BMW Metaphora concept is a manifesto for the future’s looming problems. According to predictions, the world we live in will be mostly digital, unnatural, and synthetic. There is a significant chance that the future will be little more than a facsimile of reality. Genuine feelings and impressions will be missing from people’s lives. My concept’s core premise was to provide users with a way to escape from a harsh and unpleasant world. Adding natural elements and materials to the future product will be the solution to this dilemma.
The BMW Metaphora combines analogue driving with autonomous future driving. It has two types of adaptation to the environment: “robotic” and “alive.” The first depicts the city regime, in which the car shields the passenger from the stressful and noisy metropolitan environment. The “smart glass” technology aids in the creation of a sense of privacy by making the car’s surfaces invisible. The automobile becomes alive and exposed to nature in the second mode. With transparent surfaces, the notion becomes a part of the surroundings. The user can look around him and take in the magnificent scenery.
The key design element of the concept is an aero tunnel, filled with natural elements, such as sakura petals. So, the whole composition of the car is designed around it, creating new and original forms and showing the importance of the main feature. This aero tunnel is located between the car roof and interior, it gives the space for natural elements to circulate inside. The passenger may observe the Sakura leaves and enjoy a special atmosphere of coziness and calmness even when he is in the city.
How are these natural elements get in? At first, they are highly pressurized in a small capsule, then the passenger inserts it in the small opening in front of the car under the BMW logo. After, natural elements are injected into the aero tunnel and they began to circulate around the interior of the car. This design element refers to the main building of the BMW in Munich, which should underline the brand identity and heritage.
As for the surfacing and style of the concept demonstrate a new reading of BMW design language. The exterior Is divided into 2 opposite beginnings: sculptural shapes in the front and brutal, technical rear with sharp surfaces. The open volumes and extreme surfacing should attract attention to the concept, by giving it a futuristic look.
The BMW Metaphora is a vision of how car manufactures could contribute with the tomorrow world and propose to humanity a brighter future, with less anxiety and stressful lifestyle.
