Ferrari Roma Spider Unveiled – At a special event held today at the El Badi Palace in Marrakesh, customers were introduced to the Ferrari Roma Spider, the most recent model from the Maranello manufacturer. This high-performance, ageless automobile is a modern interpretation of the stylish, pleasurable Italian way of life of the 1950s and 1960s. This spider retains the proportions, volumes, and specifications of the wildly popular V8 2+ concept from the Ferrari Roma, but what makes it so striking is the addition of a soft top, which, 54 years after the 365 GTS4, marks a welcome return to the Prancing Horse lineup on a front-engined vehicle.

Introduction

The Ferrari Roma Spider maintains the excellent dynamic qualities of the Ferrari Roma. It has the best weight-to-power ratio in its class thanks to its soft top, all-aluminium chassis, and 620 cv V8 from the engine family that was named the International Engine of the Year for four years running. The Ferrari 8-speed DCT, which is widely praised for its exceptionally quick shift times as well as high standards of comfort and mechanical efficiency, is mated to the engine.

It is dependable and responsive, making it the ideal travel companion for both short trips and longer ones. Naturally, the thrilling Ferrari V8 music is always playing in the background. This vehicle has several features that make it incredibly adaptable, including a category-leading boot space with a hatch through the backrests of the back seats to accommodate larger objects and standard wireless connectivity via Android Auto® and Apple CarPlay® Wi-Fi. Of course, 18-way adjustable heated ergonomic seats with an optional neck warmer are also offered for chilly days.

Styling

The Ferrari Roma Spider, created by the Ferrari Styling Centre under the direction of Flavio Manzoni, aims to extend the “La Nuova Dolce Vita” concept outside of urban areas for stylish, carefree driving “en plein air.” The coupé on which this 2+ spider is based has perfect proportions, enhanced by the stylish cloth soft top, without altering the car’s gracefully flowing shape.

The rear screen had to be altered so that it could be included in the soft top and folded beneath the tonneau cover when the coupé’s fastback roofline was open. The original stylistic motif on the Ferrari Roma Spider has been transformed into a body-colour band that runs across the base of the roof and separates the carbon-fibre active spoiler from the ceiling and rear screen, creating a tonneau cover that is flawlessly integrated. When the soft top is lowered, the active spoiler visually integrates with the headrests and rear bench.

The Ferrari Roma Spider’s soft top is made of brand-new material, giving it a more upscale appearance than the more common basic textiles featured on most convertibles. Unique fabric weaves that reflect the car’s two personalities—one more elegant and one sportier—were chosen and created.

Exterior

The exterior of the Ferrari Roma Spider was designed with a minimalist aesthetic that emphasizes perfect harmony between all of its components. Its balanced proportions and clean, beautiful volumes closely resemble Ferrari’s front-engined GT heritage. Having said that, the designers gave those traditional proportions a modern twist to give the automobile a chic, modern look. The front of the automobile has a unique personality because of the way the edges of the front grille flow into two linear, full-LED headlamps. A horizontal DRL strip runs through them, providing a glimpse into the underpinnings of the vehicle and adding tension to the area all around it.

Compact and set back, the fastback’s cabin volume ends in a delicate nolder beneath which the designers have reinterpreted the iconic Ferrari tail. The long rear overhang of the Ferrari Roma Spider, a feature of the Ferraris of the 1950s and 1960s, has been re-proportioned in this design, creating a low, compact volume that hugs the back axle.

Interior

The Ferrari Styling Centre designers used the same methodology for the Ferrari Roma Spider’s interior volumes and forms. The dual-cockpit design evolved to include two distinct areas, one for the driver and one for the passenger. The dual-cockpit design has a long history with the marque dating back to the 1970s. By extending the idea used on the dash across the entire interior, the revolutionary appearance of this dual cockpit was made possible. Hence, the idea of two modules that stretch and combine with the two back seats, wrapping around the driver and passenger.

The almost symmetrical arrangement of the Ferrari Roma Spider’s cabin results in a more natural distribution of both areas and functional components. As a result, the passenger will feel extremely involved in the driving process—almost like a co-driver. The shapes were designed to produce a sculptural volume where there is a sense of textural coherence across all of the different cabin components.
