Gac Hires Stephane Janin as Design Director

Chinese automotive concern GAC has hired Stephane Janin, former director of concept vehicle design (pictured with the Symbioz project ) at the Renault Group. Stephane Janin will be director of the Advanced Design Center for the new employer.
According to the GAC concern, Janin has also been appointed director of the European Center for Advanced Design. It will be built in Italy, in Milan, a city famous for its great designers.

In the design industry, Janin is known as “the master of concept cars” and his sketches are highly regarded as works of art. He is a graduate of the Royal College of Art in the United Kingdom. In his 20 years at Renault he worked with various brands within the group umbrella and partners, including Dacia, Alpine, Samsung, Infiniti and Nissan, in various design studios located in France, Spain, South Korea, and Japan and led many influential concept cars, such as the Renault EZ series and Renault Trezor.

“Stephane Janin joining GAC Design reflects the growing international influence and appeal of GAC Design, and we are very excited to be able to widen the appeal to the rich design talent resources of Europe to cement our lead in the industry, And with his experience and design vision, Stephane is a perfect designer to lead our continued commitment for innovation in our upcoming Advanced Design studio in Europe.”
Fan Zhang, VP of design, GAC.
Based in the city of Guangzhou in southern China, GAC already operates design centers in Guangzhou, Shanghai and Los Angeles.

It is clearly visible that the Chinese benefited greatly from their automotive policy and made a huge qualitative step in the design and production of cars. Now, thanks to the HR policy, they will quickly become a global player and will probably eliminate at least some of the brands still present on the market.
