Honda’s upcoming electric vehicles: Here’s what you need to know
Honda’s upcoming electric vehicles – The brand-new Civic e: HEV, Honda’s upcoming electric vehicle for Europe, was presented on 23rd March 2023. The 11th-generation Civic, made available to European customers later this year, fulfils the brand’s promise to electrify its entire mainstream European vehicle lineup by the end of 2022.
To develop its most comprehensive European offering in a long time, Honda also confirmed that its electrified product line would be further expanded in 2023. The e: Ny1 Prototype, an all-electric B-segment SUV, a C-segment full hybrid SUV, and the all-new CR-V, which will be offered with both full hybrid and plug-in hybrid engine options for the first time in Europe, are among the new additions.
The e: Ny1 electric vehicle (EV), which will go on sale in 2023, will be at the forefront of Honda’s upcoming product lineup. The compact SUV will be an excellent choice for families seeking their first EV because it provides the special combination of performance, technology, and design for which Honda is renowned.

11th Generation Honda Civic
The 2017 Civic joins Honda’s other electrified models—Jazz, Jazz Crosstar, CR-V, HR-V, and Honda e—as the last mainstream model to be exclusively offered with e: HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) technology. This completes Honda’s electrified mainstream model lineup for Europe. Honda’s unique e: HEV powertrain, which combines a power-dense lithium-ion battery, two small, electric solid motors, and a newly built 2.0-litre direct injection DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine, is what drives the Civic. It is the most modern generation of this powertrain. With a maximum motor power of 135 kW and 315Nm of torque, the Civic is expected to emit fewer than 110 grams of CO2 per kilometre or less than 5 l/100km.

Innovation in Energy Management
In 2023, Honda will improve its electrified lineup for Europe while maintaining its focus on the Energy Management sector. Its goal is to integrate electrified mobility items and energy services to create a sustainable society with no negative environmental effects. This will encourage more people to use urban charging systems, commercial energy services, and home EV chargers.
As a “V2X Suisse consortium member,” Honda in Switzerland has provided 50 Honda e-electric cars and 35 Honda Power Manager units to the car-sharing company, Mobility. The Honda e units will be utilized in a ground-breaking trial that includes a car-sharing fleet and utilizes the Honda e’s bi-directional charging function to feed energy back to the grid when the vehicles are not in use. The brand-new Honda e: PROGRESS intelligent charging service is among the other initiatives. e: PROGRESS, already successfully introduced to the UK market, enables EV owners to minimize operating expenses while maximizing the amount of energy produced from renewable sources.
With the launch of the Honda Power Charger S+ in Germany, Honda, and energy company Vattenfall have started selling their first collaborative smart connected electric vehicle charger. (4G). This service, together with e: PROGRESS, plays a significant role in Honda’s mission to connect electrified mobility products and energy services while boosting the use of renewable energy sources to build a sustainable society with no negative environmental impact.
Honda’s electrification journey gains momentum
Honda is employing a multi-pathway strategy for the next phase of its electrification journey to fulfil its objective to achieve carbon neutrality across all Honda products and corporate operations by 2050. A variety of zero-emission technologies, including solid-state batteries, swappable battery systems, carbon-neutral fuels, and hydrogen cells, will receive significant investment from the corporation. All main markets, including the European region, will expand the percentage of EV and fuel cell vehicle (FCV) unit sales ratio to 40% by 2030 and to 80% by 2035 as part of this goal. By 2040, the business will also stop selling cars using internal combustion engines worldwide.
Drawing on its extensive history of developing distinctive and cutting-edge technology and products, Honda is also broadening its horizons into new fields. Honda will create an electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for city-to-city transportation using the technology and know-how gained through HondaJet, Formula 1, and electrification. By the end of 2024, a multi-fingered Honda Avatar Robot controlled by AI will follow in ASIMO’s robotics footsteps, with an eye towards practical application in the 2030s. Honda’s goals go even further than the planet itself; cooperative research with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency is being conducted to leverage the company’s fuel cell technology to provide habitation for future lunar settlements.
