SGMW E50+ : Pengxi Li

The design brief was to design a concept car based on the platform of the Wuling Mini EV. After doing a survey of Shenzhen city in China, Pengxi came up with the concept of a city car that can enable couriers to improve both work efficiency and quality of life, that is also the meaning of the slogan: “FOR WORK & FOR HER”. To solve the problems, there are few things that should be considered.

Moving to the Design phase, Penxgi intended this automobile to have a Product Design sense, and to retain the compact volume of the car body as much as feasible with the efficient inside arrangement, the barrel shape is chosen to be the motif of exterior design.

About the interior, the front passenger seat of the interior adopts a foldable design, and the back of the folded seat is flush with the floor to achieve greater space utilization. Finally, the rare end of the car is a removable trolley, which means that with the help of a lifting device, the courier can easily load the goods into the car.

There display console can also be used in two modes. In Work mode, the display will rise up and the information of the logistic company will be displayed and in rest, mode display drops down and can be used for entertainment.

Pengxi trained himself in Blender to create the 3D-Model for this project, and the polygon makes it easy for the designer to change the form, especially during the design phase. To achieve the product feel of the inside, he used Fabric and Frosted plastic material for rendering.

About Designer

Pengxi Li is an automotive design student from Foshan, China. He graduated from the Taiyuan University of Technology, and he is going to attend the winter semester in Hochschule Pforzheim for Transportation Design M.A. this year. He did the Urban Car project during the six-month internship at SGMW Advanced Design Center in Shanghai. Later he had another six-month internship in Nissan Design, China.
