LEXUS RZ- The all-new RZ signifies Lexus' transformation into a BEV-centred brand, and it reflects the distinct Lexus vehicle design and driving experience made possible by sophisticated, electric technology.
INTRODUCTION: LEXUS RZ

“We believe that Lexus, an established luxury automaker, should continue pursuing the creation of exciting cars while respecting nature and the global environment to achieve a carbon-neutral society,” said Takashi Watanabe, chief engineer, ‘Lexus Electrified,’ Lexus International. The use of a BEV-specific platform (e-TNGA), as well as a lightweight and extremely robust body, has improved the vehicle's basic performance by achieving appropriate weight distribution through the optimal battery and motor placement.
EXTERIOR DESIGN: LEXUS RZ
The outward design conveys the smooth acceleration and dramatic torque-filled performance that distinguishes BEVs. A BEV Spindle Body replaces Lexus' recognisable spindle grille. The new front bumper design prioritises aerodynamic efficiency, optimal proportions, and elegance above servicing an internal combustion engine's cooling and exhaust demands.

This progression in style brings in a new Lexus aesthetic and defines a new design direction for BEV vehicles. The all-new RZ builds on the design language of Lexus' next generation by seeking a distinct character and proportions derived from a dynamic driving experience. "Seamless E-Motion" is the design idea, which expresses seamless acceleration and a dynamic sensation of torque that is unique to a BEV. The RZ's spindle form produces a prominent roof spoiler to reduce aerodynamic force acting on the body in a crosswind. This results in a more stable driving experience.
SHAPED FOR AERODYNAMIC PERFORMANCE
The roof's centre is designed to allow air to flow easily from the sloping rear glass surface to the vehicle's rear. By balancing the aft airflow, the ducktail from near the end of the trunk decreases aerodynamic drag. Furthermore, the created downforce adds to a more stable driving experience.
To minimise aerodynamic drag, an undercover is utilised to flatten the underbody. Because there is no engine to cool, the hood is low and the front grille aperture is small. To boost aerodynamic efficiency, the grille employs a grille shutter. When cooling air isn't needed, close the grille shutter to decrease air resistance. The removal of the internal combustion engine altered the functional needs of the front end and pushed Lexus to develop a new aesthetic identity through the use of a "spindle body" design.
INTERIOR: AN EXPANSIVE AND MINIMALISTIC
The interior is influenced by the dynamic performance of the BEV, offering a sleek and agile look. Even in a room chasing practical essence, there is a feeling of elegance and high-quality workmanship. Based on the unique tazuna concept, the interior greets passengers with an open sensation and easy controls centred on the driver. As a result, the tazuna idea perfectly integrates man and machine and stresses driving attention.

The cabin of the RZ is a simple, yet spacious and well-furnished space. The flowing design of the doors blends with the low-profile instrument panel. The door trim and console that runs between the driver and passenger seats provide the impression of a clean, spacious space. Furthermore, the ultra-suede door trim, seats, and top wood-grain console create a sophisticated omotenashi, or anticipatory hospitality, setting.
Ultrasuede, an upholstery material that achieves a sense of warm refinement by employing 30 per cent -bio-based sustainable ingredients, is one of the seat materials chosen. A welcome sense of freedom is expressed by the mix of a clean, modern environment and basic surfaces with a focus on texture.
