Vizcom - The problem with repetitive creative labor is that humans burn out, limiting the possibility of scaling up creativity. To solve this issue, Silicon Valley startup, Vizcom, is making AI accessible for artists and designers to allow creativity to become scalable.
What is Sketch2Render(S2R)?
Vizcom has developed a tool called SketchtoRender(S2R), a web-based AI tool that can automatically color, shade, and render drawings in seconds instead of hours, thanks to the power of artificial intelligence. This allows creatives to explore a lot more ideas in a shorter time frame than before. The company also provides an artistic generator where you can generate and explore synthetic images for creative inspiration
How did the idea take shape?
What originally started as a side project within an Instagram community page called Designerspen, has since then become a start-up run full-time by Co-Founders Jordan Taylor and Kaelan Richards. Jordan Taylor, the creator of Designerspen and one of the founders of Vizcom started out his journey as a car designer at Honda and shortly after Joined NVIDIA as an Industrial Designer.

This idea quickly outgrew the niche of car design and started to show potential in other creative fields such as concept art and Industrial design and continues to find ways to impact other creative fields.”

It wasn’t until one day when Jordan messaged Kaelan via Discord, who was in Michigan at the time asking if he was open to the idea of quitting their day jobs and pursuing Vizcom full-time. It was this type of risk-taking and ambition that allowed Vizcom to grow and iterate at the rate that it is. Trym Abrahamsen who is currently a professional automotive designer at Lynk Co has also made contributions to their mission.
What will be the future for the company?
Future plans consist of scaling machine learning operations and continuing the mission of making AI accessible for artists and designers. There are endless creative workflows in different types of industries that can benefit from the power of AI. One thing Vizcom currently developing is 3D object reconstruction from a single 2D image. This way, artists and designers can quickly visualize their ideas in 3D during the early stages of their process.

Currently, a free version of the Vizcom license is available to anyone. However, you get the full experience by purchasing their pioneer license. Vizcom has already brought a handful of customers onto its platform, but it’s still essentially in beta, so the funding is going to be used to expand access to the platform as well as invest in particular types of machine learning hardware-specific verticals
