IKEA HOME PLANNER: IT’S MORE THAN JUST A MOBILITY

Apr 04, 2022

IKEA HOME PLANNER - Given the future of the automobile industry, it will play a significant role in society by providing more than just transportation. According to research, this is possible because of the rapidly emerging 5G network, which allows for massive data transport. Combining technology with the future car industry will result in a vehicle that can be converted into a mobile service implementation. This project aims to investigate the future mobile service platform by merging holographic projection technology with IKEA, the world's most famous furniture merchant shop.

WHY?

According to a United Nations study from 2018, 68% of the world's population is expected to reside in cities by 2050. The urbanisation strategy has an influence on second and third-tier citie

According to the poll, the majority of current customers' IKEA shopping itinerary included measuring the room first, going to the store, measuring the furniture, and keeping "design" in mind. This results in an exhausting shopping experience that not only consumes too much energy and time but may also fall short of expectations. Those who wish to replace their old furniture may be concerned that different pieces of furniture will not fit together.

IDEA - IKEA HOME PLANNER

Instead of going to the store, how about we bring IKEA to your front door? The idea takes IKEA's experience in marketing to the next level by offering an individual interior customization service. The IKEA Homeplanner Vehicle is a mobile IKEA design platform that uses holographic technology to let users build and design their rooms.

The IKEA Home planner will appear at your door and assist consumers in 3D scanning their room. After customers enter the vehicle from the front, it will produce a hologram of the room and allow them to "edit" and "design" their space by adding or removing furniture from IKEA's 3D model library. It provides buyers with a visual sample of what their house may look like without requiring any measurements or thought. Customers can pan the virtual room to fit in the area if the virtual room exceeds the capacity of the vehicle.

Once the orders are placed, the IKEA Home planner will return to the warehouse and load the selected furniture by the purchasers before delivering them to finish the service.

DESIGN - IKEA HOME PLANNER

Polestar is known for its basic and clean design language as the pioneer of electric vehicles. Both businesses are from Sweden and reflect the Scandinavian aesthetic, thus Weng is seeking something basic with a strong architectural character for this project's outside. To hide the entry, the front of the vehicle incorporates a "floating" panel. The lower portion is a display panel that may show the consumer 3D scanning instructions. The removable battery packs may be stacked and charged while remaining in the warehouse.
