It boldly introduces a manual torque control system, elevating and diversifying the thrill inherent in electric vehicle (EV) experiences. The Rimac Maestral isn't just a car; it's a testament to the relentless pursuit of excellence in the dynamic intersection of automotive engineering and design, ushering in a new era of exhilarating possibilities on the open road.

The Fusion of Tradition and Innovation

Drawing inspiration from the avant-garde theories of the renowned French architect Claude Parent, the Rimac Maestral ventures into uncharted territories with its distinctive interior design. Parent's visionary concept of tilting a building's elements to create a more immersive experience finds its automotive counterpart in the Maestral's torque vectoring system.

The Maestral ingeniously incorporates Parent's philosophy into its driving dynamics, presenting a manual torque vectoring system that puts the power directly into the hands of the driver. This system is intuitively controlled by a central shifter, echoing the tactile and engaging experience Parent envisioned. 

Powered by Rimac's state-of-the-art Wheel Torque Vectoring Technology, initially designed for the Nevera, the Maestral allows drivers to dictate the torque distribution. Imagine the thrill of shifting torque to the left while cornering right, then redirecting it all to the rear for a burst of straight-line speed. This dynamic control mechanism enhances the driving experience, creating scenarios that were previously unimaginable in electric vehicles.

Architectural Influence Design Approach

The design of the Rimac Maestral is inspired by Claude Parent's architectural masterpieces. The tub's dynamic flow, visible from above, wraps around the driver and passenger, creating a united feel. This design isn't just structural; it's an intentional artistic expression aiming to enhance the driving experience. Adding to this design, two wing-like planes extend from the sides, creating an immersive space that goes beyond typical car interiors.

These wing-like elements, intentionally placed, enhance the overall look and feel of the car's interior. Beyond their visual appeal, they contribute to a sense of movement, echoing Claude Parent's dynamic architectural vision. 

The torque shifter, a central element in this symphony of control, boasts a simple yet recognizable design. Analog measurement-like features offer drivers an easy-to-read display of torque distribution. The shifter's flexibility in movement, both front to back and left to right, adds a tactile layer to the driving experience. Extending the torque shifter to the front of the tub introduces ambient light that fluctuates, visually indicating torque shifts. With minimal screens and information for the driver, the focus remains on the road or track. Complex data, such as track position and torque levels, are projected to the passenger, fostering a collaborative driving experience.

Merging Form and Function

In its exterior exploration, the Rimac Maestral remains faithful to Rimac's distinctive design language while incorporating a roadster-like twist. This twist is manifested through the incorporation of a small windshield and a roll cage, adding a touch of sportiness and open-air exhilaration to the overall aesthetic.
