SEMI IQ: Where Brutalism Meets Elegance
Initially, the designer thought a lot about classic American values like exploring new frontiers and seeking adventure. But the real challenge was figuring out how to update a style of architecture called brutalism from the old days (around the 1950s) to fit into today's world. The big idea came unexpectedly from video games and movies like Destiny, Halo, and Arrival. He wanted to make brutalism look more modern, so they looked at these virtual worlds' cool and strong buildings in these virtual worlds. The aim was to mix old brutalist buildings tough and solid features of old brutalist buildings with the smooth and futuristic looks of these games and movies. The plan was to create a design that not only respected the history of brutalism but also felt fresh and exciting for the 21st century.
SEMI IQ's design skillfully includes sharp lines and geometric shapes, inspired by brutalism. The cab, placed above the truck body, rises like a powerful monolith, showing strength and simplicity. This intentional shape choice makes a strong visual impact, echoing the robust character of brutalist architecture.
Additionally, the design blends industrial looks with glossy surfaces and matte accents. This mix pays tribute to brutalism's practical origins while also showcasing Cadillac's refined elegance. The combination of these elements creates a design that smoothly combines the bold, practical aspects of brutalism with the sophisticated and polished style that defines the Cadillac brand.
One cool thing about SEMI IQ is the tall vertical lights by Cadillac, both at the front and back of the truck. These lights, inspired by the Cadillac logo, are a big part of the truck's front design.
