This New Lexus Design By Daekyung Seong Is Inspired From Cosmos And Giving Us Sci-fi Vibes

Mar 26, 2024

In a world where design frequently mirrors the influences of inspiration, the designer boldly challenges the norm. Drawing from boundless imagination and the mysterious essence of time. Inspired by the documentary "Euro Fighter Typhoon," a pivotal scene ignited profound reflection, questioning the very fundamentals of what we consider to be unquestionable.

Embracing Relativity: The Hourglass Reimagined

When you look at the distinctive spindle grill of Lexus, it's easy to see it resembles an hourglass. This leads to a thought-provoking exploration of time's complexities with a question: Can time, once thought to be absolute, actually be manipulated and transformed into a relative influence?

Drawing inspiration from the mysterious nature of a "Black Hole," which distorts even time itself, the designer embarks on a journey of homage and innovation. From this cosmic abyss emerge three distinct proposals, each a tribute to the gravitational pull of inspiration:

Acceleration Disk: Mirroring the swirling vortex of an accretion disk, the designer channels gravitational forces into a dynamic design. The vehicle's sleek lines express the curvature of space-time, captivating both the eye and the imagination.

Relativistic Jet: Resembling the celestial eruption of plasma around a black hole, the vehicle exudes power and presence. Its cabin, shrouded in mystery, mirrors the cosmic dance of matter and energy, inviting exploration.

Warp: Embracing science fiction, Lexus transcends conventional boundaries with a design that defies space and time constraints. Each angle offers a new perspective, encouraging exploration and discovery.

The Evolution of Design: Introducing the Spindle Body

The spindle grill, once considered merely decorative, now undergoes a transformative evolution, becoming a central and defining element of the vehicle's body. No longer just an adornment, it emerges as a pivotal component, seamlessly integrated into the overall design.

Every curve, every line, is purposefully crafted to convey a sense of fluidity and motion, evoking a feeling of perpetual dynamism even when the vehicle is at rest. The spindle body stands as a testament to the attention to detail and the pursuit of excellence that defines Lexus's design philosophy. It embodies not just beauty, but also innovation and a bold departure from convention, setting new standards in automotive design.

The focus is a lot on being creative and different. Instead of using the usual muffler, the designer is putting in a shiny panel. It's not just for looks—it's also to show off the car's main body design, called the spindle body. This change is a big deal in making cars look cooler and more modern.

We know that designers are very obsessed with the side profiles of a vehicle and mostly it's the starting point of a concept. Here also, the side view is like a blank canvas where the designer gets creative. One cool detail is the slanted line on the side, which looks a bit like the swirling shape you see around a black hole. This line captures the powerful pull of a black hole and how it messes with space and time. The rest of the car's shape seems to bend and twist around this line, giving it a dynamic and interesting look. It's like the car is moving even when it's standing still. This design makes you think of the mysteries of space and the universe. It's like the car is part of a cosmic dance, taking inspiration from the wonders of space and time.

The Double Bubble Experience: A Journey Through Time

The double bubble design isn't just about looks; it's also about how it works. It's like a metaphor for time having two sides. Inside the car, both the driver and the passenger have their own experience of time.

It's a clever way of showing how time can be different for everyone, even when they're together in the same space. The design captures this idea of temporal duality, where time is experienced uniquely by each person.

Conclusion

This Lexus sci-fi car goes beyond normal design rules, getting ideas from the huge universe. Mixing new ideas with respect for the past, the car becomes more than just a way to get around—it becomes a path for exploring, leading us through endless time and space.
