The renewed vision for the BMW 3.0 CSL, known as the BMW M GT CSL, seeks to carry forward the design heritage of the original E9 while incorporating modern, aerodynamic elements. The design philosophy of this project is encapsulated in two keywords: ‘Envelop’ and ‘Suction’. These concepts not only highlight the vehicle's aerodynamic prowess but also evoke the sporty, high-performance image that the 3.0 CSL is renowned for.
The term ‘Envelope’ refers to the design’s emphasis on aerodynamic efficiency, particularly around the rear wing. This aspect of the design creates a sense of being surrounded or 'enveloped' by the vehicle's dynamic lines, enhancing both its aesthetic appeal and functional performance. ‘Suction’, on the other hand, draws inspiration from the original 3.0 CSL’s side air induction system. This feature underscores the vehicle’s sporty nature, emphasizing its ability to harness airflow for enhanced performance.

Sangwoo Bae is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Transportation Design at Hongik University. He initially majored in sculpture during his undergraduate studies with the dream of becoming a sculptural artist. However, his enduring passion for automobiles and his dream of designing them have always been present. Three years ago, a trip to Germany became a pivotal moment in his life when he encountered a Porsche 911 Turbo parked on the street. That encounter ignited his passion for car design. Since then, he has been dedicated to studying car design in earnest.
