Volkswagen ID Buzz EV to be revealed on 9th March

Volkswagen ID Buzz van – A retro-futuristic recreation of the iconic Type 2, will be unveiled on March 9 as the newest addition to the quickly growing family of MEB-based EVs. The electric rebirth of one of Volkswagen’s best-known and biggest-selling vehicles will show that “people who love cars” work at the company, said CEO Ralf Brandstatter.

Volkswagen ID Buzz: what is it?

Brandstatter has stated that the ID Buzz will be “definitely the most emotional among all the electric models” and will play an important part in Volkswagen’s push to become “the most desirable brand for sustainable mobility”.

The ID 3 hatchback and one of the biggest ID-badged EV will use a similar MEB platform. ID 4 and ID 5 SUVs, and it will be the first in the lineup to be available in passenger-carrying configuration transporting and commercial forms to provide it the same purpose flexibility as the Type 2, it will likewise be offered.

In the shape of a California camper van,  however, it is uncertain if Volkswagen will do so build out this variation on their own or use third-party contractors, as was the case with the previous Type 2. The appearance of the ID Buzz appears to be broadly consistent with the well-received concept from 2017, but somewhat more straight-edged to maximize inside space, with a basic front-end design that ties it to previous ID models and numerous hints.

A tribute to its forefathers, it will be constructed alongside the new ICE-powered Multivan at Volkswagen’s facility in Hanover, Germany, in regular and long-wheelbase configurations. The ID Buzz is likely to have the same battery and rear- and four-wheel-drive engine options as current MEB EVs. The concept’s 374 hp 4WD setup will most likely be toned down for the range-topper to match the ID 4 GTX’s 300hp.

D 3 Cabriolet: Volkswagen may soon introduce an electric replacement for the long-gone Golf Cabriolet. Work on an ID 3 convertible idea is already underway, and the lower development costs provided by a common platform make a business case much more plausible.

ID 3 GTX: “Fun to drive is a part of mobility,” Brandstatter said, confirming that a sporty 4WD version of the ID 3 is on the way. It will be based on the 334hp ID X concept, but will most likely carry the GTX nameplate and a 300hp powerplant into production.

The German automaker is preparing for the worldwide premiere of its Virtus sedan in India in March, ahead of its May launch. The new Volkswagen Virtus, which will replace the aging Vento in India, will share its foundations and powertrains with the Skoda Slavia.
