This Toyota-Calty 98/2 concept is your cost-efficient solution for everyday travel

May 30, 2024

This groundbreaking Toyota-Calty 98/2 project explores the future of Toyota’s vehicle lineup by addressing the needs of two distinct market segments. The "98" symbolizes a car designed for the 98 percentile of commuters, prioritizing cost-efficiency and space-saving. In contrast, the "2" represents a luxury vehicle aimed at the top 2 percentile, merging opulence with innovative design.

The 98 Percent Toyota Kinto Model

The 98% vehicle is crafted with a focus on reducing user costs and maximizing efficiency. The inspiration for its design comes from an unexpected source—shopping carts. Just as shopping carts can be stacked to save space, 98% vehicles can be parked in a similar fashion, addressing the critical issue of parking in densely populated urban areas. This design not only saves parking space but also significantly reduces parking expenses for users.

One of the standout features of the 98% vehicle version is its flexible and collapsible rear cabin. This design allows the cabin to extend, providing additional seating when necessary, or retract to enable stackable functionality. This adaptability makes it perfect for various passenger needs, from accommodating a party of four to travelling efficiently with just two occupants. The innovative cabin design enhances the vehicle's versatility and utility.

To further enhance efficiency, the 98% of vehicle can form a train-like structure by merging with other vehicles traveling in the same direction. This configuration conserves energy by reducing the combined energy consumption and minimizes the physical footprint on the road. The train formation also decreases the distance between vehicles, optimizing spatial efficiency. When a vehicle reaches its destination or needs to change direction, it can seamlessly detach from the train and continue independently.

The 2 percent Lexus Model

The 2% Lexus vehicle represents luxury and exclusivity. Designed to serve specific functions with unparalleled excellence, this vehicle redefines opulence on wheels. Its unique concept—a garden on wheels—sets it apart from traditional luxury cars, offering a one-of-a-kind experience for its occupants. With a body over 6 meters long and 2 meters wide, the 2% Lexus vehicle prioritizes comfort and exclusivity for its two occupants. The front section of the vehicle is transformed into an in-car garden, creating a serene, nature-infused environment that separates the occupants from the outside world. This innovative design not only enhances the sense of luxury but also provides a peaceful retreat for the users, making every journey a relaxing experience.

This vehicle is a perfect blend of automotive art and luxury, offering an aesthetic appeal that matches its high-end functionality. The combination of cutting-edge design and meticulous craftsmanship makes the 2% Lexus vehicle a true statement of luxury.

A Vision for the Future

Both the 98% and 2% vehicles are equipped with advanced autonomous driving capabilities. These technologies enhance safety and convenience, allowing for seamless navigation through various driving conditions. The autonomous features ensure that both vehicles provide a smooth and stress-free driving experience, whether in busy urban environments or on open roads. Sustainability is a core principle of this 98/2 project. The 98% vehicle, in particular, is designed to be highly energy-efficient, reducing the overall carbon footprint. The use of eco-friendly materials and innovative engineering solutions ensures that the vehicle aligns with Toyota’s commitment to sustainability. The 2% Lexus vehicle also incorporates sustainable elements, blending luxury with environmental responsibility.
