Bugatti Solaire Concept combines model 100 plane design with modern Bugatti aesthetics

Aug 22, 2024

The Bugatti Solaire Concept is a remarkable blend of car design and aeroplane technology. Inspired by the 1939 Bugatti Model 100 race plane, the Solaire brings a fresh take on modern car design. It presents a bold, futuristic look, showing that Bugatti's ambitions have no limits, even when it comes to the skies. The design reflects Bugatti's deep history while also introducing a new way of combining car and aeroplane technology. This innovative vehicle blurs the lines between driving and flying, pushing transportation boundaries. With its advanced design, the Solaire highlights Bugatti's ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation.

The design of this Bugatti Solaire Concept beautifully combines the look of the Model 100 aeroplane with modern Bugatti cars. The famous "C" line is transformed into an elegant circular wing that curves back on itself. This wing isn't just for show; it plays a vital role in improving aerodynamics. The design includes two sets of wings that boost lift without making the wingspan too wide. By linking the wingtips, the circular wing reduces air turbulence, leading to smoother flight. This smooth shift from Bugatti's classic "C" line to an innovative wing design highlights the brand's ability to innovate while honouring its heritage.

From above, Solaire’s design clearly shows Bugatti’s signature style with its horseshoe-shaped wings. This iconic feature connects Bugatti's road cars to its possible future in aviation. The name "Solaire" perfectly blends "Sol" (ground) and "Air," symbolizing this fusion. It invites us to imagine a world where luxury and performance aren’t just limited to the ground but can reach new heights.

Finished in Bugatti’s classic racing blue, this innovative Bugatti concept carries on the brand’s tradition of unmatched performance. With eight motors generating a total of 1800kW of power, the Solaire can exceed speeds of 600 km/h, making it faster than any other EVTOL (Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing) vehicle currently available. Its 240kWh battery, developed with Rimac’s electric vehicle expertise, allows the Solaire to travel up to 350 kilometres on a single charge at a speed of 300km/h, with a 45-minute reserve for extra range. Besides its speed, this EVTOL concept focuses on efficiency, with advanced battery technology that supports long trips, minimizing the need for frequent recharging.

The Bugatti Solaire isn’t just a concept; it’s a bold declaration of innovation from both Bugatti and Rimac. This vehicle embodies a future where automakers venture into a new world, breaking the boundaries of possibility. It is a powerful example of how automotive design can merge seamlessly with aerospace engineering, proving that even the sky can no longer confine our ambitions. As Bugatti continues to push the envelope, the Solaire stands as a shining example of what can be achieved when creativity and technology come together. It’s a vehicle that dares to challenge the status quo, encouraging both the automotive and aerospace industries to dream bigger and aim higher.
