Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn), the global leader in technology manufacturing, has unveiled two exciting new electric vehicles at the fifth annual Hon Hai Tech Day (HHTD). Expanding its presence in the automotive industry, Foxconn introduced the MODEL D, a sleek and versatile Lifestyle Multipurpose Utility Vehicle (LMUV) crafted in partnership with renowned design house Pininfarina. Alongside it, the MODEL U, a mid-sized electric bus, was revealed, targeting innovative urban mobility solutions. Both models signal Foxconn's bold move into the future of electric transportation.

The MODEL D, a cutting-edge Lifestyle Multipurpose Utility Vehicle (LMUV), blends the strengths of SUVs and MPVs into a versatile hybrid model. Built on Foxconn’s latest platform technology, this 5.1-meter-long vehicle offers a spacious interior with a generous 3.2-meter wheelbase, ensuring comfort for every journey. Its advanced pneumatic suspension enhances driving stability, with adjustable ride height ranging from 15 mm to 25 mm for added versatility. Aerodynamics play a key role in its design, with S-ducts and air curtains reducing wind resistance, achieving an impressive drag coefficient of just 0.23. Styled in collaboration with the legendary Italian design house Pininfarina, the MODEL D embodies the perfect balance of form and function, reflecting the synergy between Foxconn and Pininfarina in shaping the future of electric vehicles.
Foxconn Model D exterior design showcases clean, futuristic aesthetics
This Foxconn concept makes a powerful visual statement with its clean, sculpted lines and a distinct, futuristic design language. At first glance, the vehicle exudes a sense of modernity, characterized by its angular silhouette and expansive glass surfaces. The front of the Model D is punctuated by a sleek, continuous light strip that runs horizontally across the face, creating a visually striking front fascia. This design element emphasizes the car’s electric nature, seamlessly integrating advanced lighting technology with sleek aerodynamics.

The front grille, devoid of traditional combustion engine intakes, further underlines its electric powertrain. Instead, it showcases a futuristic, pixelated texture, which hints at Foxconn's tech-driven approach. The lower section of the front bumper is uniquely minimalist, creating a smooth and purposeful look while enhancing airflow for optimal aerodynamics. Moving along the sides, the Model D’s elongated, almost rectangular cabin design creates a sense of space and utility. The character lines flow gently from front to back, giving the impression of movement even when the vehicle is stationary. The sharp, geometric wheel design, finished in a dual-tone black and silver, complements the futuristic looks while pointing to the vehicle's performance-centric engineering.

From the side, the Model D's profile reflects an emphasis on spaciousness and aerodynamics. Its slightly sloping roofline and flush door handles contribute to its sleek appearance. The darkened window frames blend smoothly with the bodywork, creating an almost floating glass effect that adds a touch of elegance. The long wheelbase hints at the generous interior space, ensuring comfort for all passengers.
Pininfarina’s influence is visible in the design’s balance of practicality and beauty. Every line feels purposeful, and the proportions communicate an understanding of what future mobility can look like—elegant, spacious, and minimalistic. At the rear, the Foxconn Model D continues its digital-forward design language. A horizontal LED light bar runs the entire width of the vehicle, much like the front, linking both sides and creating a visual signature that's recognizable from a distance. The rear also features a unique angular shape, with sharp edges that cut into the bodywork, giving the Model D an aerodynamic yet sculpted appearance.

Model D interior redefines comfort and connectivity for the future
Inside, the Foxconn's Model D doesn't disappoint. The minimalist dashboard is dominated by a wide, seamless digital display that integrates both the driver’s instrument panel and the central infotainment system. The lack of physical buttons gives the cockpit a clean, uncluttered look, which is both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional. Copper accents along the dashboard and door trims add warmth to the interior, contrasting beautifully with the neutral tones of the leather upholstery.

The steering wheel is compact and futuristic, featuring integrated touch controls that further streamline the driving experience. The floating centre console between the front seats is cleverly designed with a focus on practicality and advanced technology. With its illuminated touch pads and sleek design, it enhances the feeling of driving a vehicle that's ahead of its time.

Passenger comfort is clearly a priority in the Model D. The spacious cabin is designed with premium materials that ensure both comfort and durability. The large panoramic sunroof floods the interior with natural light, giving the cabin a sense of openness and connection to the outside world.
Model D: A perfect blend of innovation and elegant design
The Foxconn Model D is a bold showcase of Foxconn’s expansion into the automotive world, with Pininfarina’s iconic design language enhancing both its visual appeal and functionality. With a sleek, minimalist aerodynamic design, spacious interior, and advanced tech features, the Model D isn’t just a glimpse of the future of electric mobility—it signals that the future is already here. This collaboration between Foxconn and Pininfarina represents a pivotal moment in automotive design, where technology and artistry blend seamlessly to create an exceptional electric vehicle.
