Glickenhaus Hypercar Concept brings the nostalgia back with its striking design

Jul 27, 2024

Glickenhaus Hypercar Concept - In the fast-paced world of motorsport, innovation and evolution are always happening. The latest addition is the Glickenhaus X LMH, a project aimed to be the top endurance hypercar by 2030. This ambitious car is a result of a collaboration with STUDIOTORINO, aiming to bring Glickenhaus back to the top of competitive racing. With advanced technology and a visionary design, the Glickenhaus X LMH promises to push the limits of speed and performance.

Glickenhaus, a brand known for its strong racing history, recently lacked a competitor in races. This absence led to the creation of the Glickenhaus X LMH. The "X" stands for the number ten, marking an important milestone for the brand, and symbolizes the extreme nature of this hypercar concept. Built to push limits, the Glickenhaus Hypercar Concept represents the future for motorsport fans. A key feature of the Glickenhaus concept is the innovative use of the Venturi effect. This principle states that airspeed increases and pressure decreases as it moves through a narrow space, creating aerodynamic downforce without much drag. Mastering this effect gives the hypercar exceptional stability and grip, which are crucial for the tough demands of endurance racing.

The journey from concept to creation started with detailed sketches, balancing looks and technical skills. The Glickenhaus 007LMH, a strong competitor in the World Endurance Championship until 2023, served as the base for this hypercar concept. However, the 2030 design goes beyond this, inspired by the sleek shapes of Formula 1 cars and adding complex style and aerodynamic features. After the initial sketches, the design was refined through intermediate renders in Photoshop. This phase allowed for careful adjustments, exploring different surface textures, colour schemes, and liveries. Each tweak brought the vision closer to reality, making sure every line and curve was perfect.

The finished Glickenhaus X LMH is a marvel of design and engineering, blending elements of Formula 1 and aeronautical style. Its long, low nose connects to a carbon wing and underbody, forming a front spoiler that boosts stability and grip. This aggressive yet sleek look highlights its aerodynamic efficiency. A standout feature is the dual-purpose air intake near the rear wheel arches, which improves brake cooling and adds visual appeal. The wheel arches also have air intakes to cool the high-performance carbon brakes, needing constant airflow during intense races.

The hypercar's chassis was modified to fit the radiators and intercoolers, with side pods featuring air intakes for better cooling. These sidepods have special parts that optimize airflow over the wings above the turbos, which are placed outside for extra cooling. The innovative underbody design is crucial. Unlike flat designs of the past, it has channels and carbon blades that direct air to the rear, using the Venturi effect. Starting from the car’s centre and widening into a rear diffuser, the front underbody is positioned higher off the ground to maximize this aerodynamic principle, ensuring top performance.

This Glickenhaus Hypercar Concept, with its careful attention to detail and innovative design, sets a new standard for endurance racing. It embodies the spirit of pushing the limits in both design and performance. It shows what can be achieved when creativity, technology, and passion come together. The future of racing looks brighter, faster, and more exciting with the Glickenhaus X LMH leading the way, starting a new era of excellence in endurance racing.
