Some people think all Aston Martins look alike. While the models do have visual similarities, they have significant differences inside, especially with the latest Aston Martin Hypercar concept. It is a concept from a car design student who started this project with a question: how would design change when combining classic looks with modern technology? Captivated by the elegant curves of the legendary Aston Martin DBR1, the aim was to keep this classic charm while creating a single-seater hypercar. Modern hypercars, like the Aston Martin Valkyrie, focus on aerodynamics and often show their mechanical parts on the outside.

To achieve a remarkable design, the designer studied the car's frame, battery, horizontal suspension, and electric motors. Using the Alias NURBS program, he designed the undercarriage structure for the project. Based on this foundation, he aimed to retain the classic feel of the Fender volume while giving the Aston Martin Hypercar concept a sleek, futuristic look for aerodynamics.

The designer noticed that the streamlined, elliptical shape of UFOs, which have fascinated people worldwide for over 70 years, matched the project's focus. UFOs are seen as futuristic and have a lasting impression, giving them a classic design status. Therefore, the designer included the UFO shape in the car's design. From various angles, the car's body and driver's cockpit appear separate, but when viewed from the side, the overall silhouette shows a sleek crescent shape from front to back. This UFO shape helps create a sense of unity, making sure the different parts of the car look connected.

In designing the car, the designer drew inspiration from the prominent white-painted circles used to display racing numbers on the classic Aston Martin DBR1. To pay homage to this iconic graphic design in a modern way, they replaced these circles with thin blue LED light strips. This change not only preserves the historical reference but also adds a contemporary and futuristic touch to the car’s aesthetic. Furthermore, the designer incorporated additional lighting features to enhance the modern appeal. Around the centre lock of the wheels, red LED-lit circular rings were added.

These rings are inspired by the heating effect of brakes seen in classic racing cars during extreme situations. This not only adds a striking visual element but also subtly nods to the car's high-performance heritage. These modern lighting elements not only serve to update the car’s appearance but also bridge the gap between classic and contemporary design. The blue LED light strips and red LED-lit rings work together to create a cohesive and innovative look that respects the past while embracing the future.

This Aston Martin Hypercar concept is a perfect example of combining classic and modern design. The car's shape is inspired by the sleek, elliptical design of UFOs. This gives the car a unique, futuristic look while still keeping a sense of classic style. The use of LED lighting adds to this effect. Thin blue LED light strips replace the traditional racing number circles, giving a nod to the past while adding a modern touch. Red LED-lit rings around the centre of the wheels mimic the glowing brakes of old racing cars, further blending old and new.

This innovative design approach creates a harmonious balance between tradition and innovation. The UFO-inspired silhouette and modern LED lighting set a new standard in the world of high-performance vehicles, showing that it is possible to respect the past while embracing the future.
