This Citroen Amour Concept is designed to offer Parisians a unique and romantic date experience

Aug 04, 2024

The Citroen Amour Concept is designed to offer Parisians a unique and romantic date experience through an innovative vehicle concept. Paris, renowned for its romantic ambience and iconic outdoor cafes, serves as the perfect backdrop for this project. Despite being one of the most populated cities in the world, less than 30% of Parisians own cars, making a shared vehicle an ideal solution for young couples seeking a private and intimate date experience.

The idea behind the Citroen Amour Concept is simple but powerful. Just like New York has its famous chariots and Venice its gondolas, Citroen Amour wants to be a special vehicle for Paris. Inspired by the charm of the Fiat 500, this project aims to create a vehicle that stands out and matches the romantic feel of the city. To capture the feel of a French outdoor cafe, the designer made the vehicle's seating cosy and inviting, like Parisian terraces. By placing the seat in front of a coffee shop, the goal was to create the same mood and look of these popular outdoor spots.

The project focuses on two couples: a tourist couple from Asia and a Parisian couple. These examples show how versatile and appealing the Citroen Amour is. The story follows each couple as they use an app to call for an Amour, which is then delivered to them. This smooth mix of technology and service makes the experience convenient and special. The inspiration for this Citroen concept comes from the contrasts in romantic relationships. Even though couples are connected, they are still two unique individuals. This contrast and the tension it creates shaped the vehicle's design, affecting its size, colour, shape, and materials.

The layout of the vehicle is designed to create a contrastive shape, with a turntable on the floor that allows the seat to rotate. This feature enables the vehicle to switch between driving mode and terrace mode. When the seat is turned to the side, the interior transforms into a terrace-like space, perfect for enjoying a romantic moment while parked.

The layout of the vehicle draws inspiration from terrace cafes, incorporating innovative door openings to enhance the experience. The windshield opens as a gullwing, while the door slides open, allowing passengers to enjoy the terrace mode even when the door is closed. For the drive mode, the vehicle offers an unobstructed view of Paris through a minimalistic instrument panel designed with functionality in mind. The seat design is a key part of the project. After many sketches and changes, a loveseat inspired by outdoor rattan chairs was created, making it easy for passengers to sit close together. This unique and experimental design is both comfortable and visually impressive.

The steering wheel can collapse, with a simple round plate on top that can also be a display. This simple design of the Citroen Amour Concept makes sure the steering wheel looks good and works well with the rest of the vehicle. One challenge was finding space for passengers' feet when the seat turned. At first, there were plans for collapsible footrests, but in the end, more space was made for foot placement, and footrests were added all around to avoid any obstruction when the seat rotates.

Given the romantic theme of Citroen Amour, the designer chose bright pink colours mixed with neutral tones for balance. Adding greens gives a trendy and luxurious feel, making the interior look modern and appealing. The materials and colours work together to create a cosy and inviting space, perfect for a romantic date. Citroen Amour Concept is more than just a vehicle; it’s designed to capture the romance and charm of Paris. It offers couples a private, intimate space to enjoy the city, blending practicality with emotion. This project aims to change the idea of shared vehicles, making them not only useful but also a cherished part of special moments.
