This Singer Bike Concept is a blend of classic and modern design

Jul 31, 2024

In the world of automotive design, few names are as respected as Singer Vehicle Design. Known for their detailed restorations and modern takes on classic cars, a designer has explored a new area with an experimental Singer Bike Concept. This bike isn't just a nod to the past but a look into the future, combining iconic designs of the 80s and 90s with the latest technology to achieve top speed and great aerodynamics.

The 80s and 90s were a golden era for experimental bike designs. Bikes from this period, though unique in appearance, were groundbreaking in their quest for speed and aerodynamic efficiency. This bike concept draws heavily from this history, imagining what bikes from that era would look like if designed today. The focus is on improving aerodynamics, which is crucial for high speeds. The design philosophy is inspired by some of the most iconic and innovative bikes of the past, such as the Cinelli Laser, Lotus 108, and Kronotech Bottecchia.

One of the most noticeable features of the Singer bike is its wheel setup: a smaller front wheel and a larger rear wheel. This design reduces the front surface area, improving aerodynamics. The bike also has long aero handlebars, allowing riders to adopt a superman-like position, enhancing aerodynamic efficiency even more. Most mechanical parts are covered to reduce air drag, and a small portion of the rear wheel is enclosed to minimize air turbulence. The use of carbon wheels makes the bike lightweight, which is crucial for achieving high speeds.

The motorcycle concept offers several adjustable features to suit different rider positions and preferences. The handlebars can be adjusted in length, and the bike uses a traditional shifter, staying true to Singer's dedication to preserving the original riding experience, similar to their restored Porsche 964 models. Riders who don’t need the aero handlebars can easily remove them, and the seat height can be adjusted to find the best aerodynamic position.

The attention to detail and luxury shines in every part of the concept bike, especially the crank. Inspired by Singer's watch collection, the crank is designed to look like a Singer watch. This detail not only adds a touch of luxury but also pays tribute to the history of speed records and the ongoing pursuit of excellence. The crank's design features an inner ring showing the last two digits of the speed and an outer ring for the first digit, symbolizing the continuous quest for new speed records. This element reflects Singer's philosophy of blending historical homage with modern innovation.

In the end, this motorcycle design tribute to the top-speed attempts of the 90s is a beautiful blend of art and engineering. It celebrates the innovative spirit of the past while paving the way for future advancements in bike design. By combining classic design elements with modern technology, the designer has created a bike that honours the past and looks forward to the future. Whether for a speed enthusiast or a lover of classic bike designs, the Singer bike is a remarkable fusion of history and modernity. It captures the essence of a bygone era while pushing the boundaries of what's possible today.

This bike reminds us that the pursuit of excellence is timeless and that the quest for speed and perfection continues to inspire and drive innovation.
